An Access Violation Occurs If You Copy a Second Floppy Disk with Diskcopy (317201)

SYMPTOMS

If you run Diskcopy from Windows Explorer, an access violation may occur in the Rundll32.exe process after Diskcopy is completed if you try to copy a second floppy disk.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Diskcopy.dll uses a free thread local storage slot if you start Diskcopy again.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the diskcopy command from a command prompt.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
