Visio2002: Find Shape Results Include Metric Shapes That You Did Not Install (317126)

SYMPTOMS

When you search for a shape by using the Find Shape feature in Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional, the results include shapes from the Metric Solutions stencils even though you did not install these solutions.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if both of the following conditions are true:

  • You installed Microsoft Visio Professional 2002 from a retail single license compact disc.

    -and-
  • You applied the Visio Professional 2002 SR-1 patch.
NOTE: This problem does not occur if you install Visio 2002 Professional from a network installation point (used in corporate deployment) or if you perform the full product installation of SR-1.

RESOLUTION

Reset the Solutions with Metric Units. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. Click Microsoft Visio Professional 2002, and then click Change (in Windows 95/98, click Add/Remove).
  4. In Microsoft Visio Maintenance Mode Setup, click Add or Remove Features - Install or remove specific features, and click Next.
  5. Click the Solutions (Metric units) arrow, and then click Not Available on the menu that appears.
  6. Click Install. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete Setup.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
