SYMPTOMS

When you try to change the network or postoffice name of the Exchange shadow postoffice in the properties of the MS Mail Connector on the Local Postoffice tab by using Exchange System Manager, the changes are not reflected in the MS proxy address in the recipient policy.

WORKAROUND

Manually change the MS proxy address to match the new naming scheme on the Local Postoffice tab of the properties of the MS Mail Connector. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Exchange System Manager, expand the Recipients object, and then click the Recipient Policies object.
  2. Right-click the appropriate recipient policy object, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the E-Mail Addresses (Policy) tab. Click the MS rule, and then click Edit. Manually change the address to match the Local Postoffice tab. The correct format is NETWORK/POSTOFFICE.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
