SUMMARY

This article explains how to reset the password for the Microsoft Project Central administrator account.

MORE INFORMATION

To reset the Microsoft Project Central Server Administrator password, open the Microsoft Project Central database, and then reset the Reserved_1 and Reserved_2 fields for the Administrator account. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start your database management program, and then open the Project_CentralDb database.

NOTE: Project_CentralDb is the default database that is created when you install Microsoft Project Central. However, if you manually created a database with a different name by running the SQL scripts from the Microsoft Project Central CD-ROM, open that database instead.
  2. Open the MSP_WEB_RESOURCES table, and then locate the row that contains Administrator in the RES_NAME column.
  3. In the RESERVED_DATA1 column of this row, change the value to 0 (zero).
  4. In the RESERVED_DATA2 column of this row, change the value to 0 (zero).
  5. Close the database, and then quit the database management program.
  6. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then browse to the Microsoft Project Central virtual directory.
  7. On the Welcome to Microsoft Project Central page, click Administrator in the User name list, and then click Enter.
  8. When you are prompted to change the password, click Yes.
  9. Leave the Old Password box blank. Type a new password in the New Password box. Type the same password in the Confirm Password box, and then click Change Password. You receive the following message:

    Your password has been changed.

  10. Log off Microsoft Project Central.
