SUMMARY

Before you install Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3), some Universal Serial Bus (USB) mass-storage devices with multiple logical unit numbers (LUNs) may not be detected properly. A change in SP3 causes Windows 2000 to detect multiple-LUN USB devices correctly. This functionality is present in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me).

After you install SP3, some USB removable-storage devices may be redetected, including devices that are detected as having multiple LUNs. This may cause the drive letter that is assigned to the device to change. Currently, certain Iomega USB Zip drives and Hagiwara Sys-Com Dual Slot Smart Media/PC Card flash readers are the most likely devices to be affected. After the device is redetected, you can reassign the drive letter as required.
