Maximize Your Search of the Knowledge Base and MSDN

A list of search instructions that help you maximize your search results at each search portal follows:

Note The portals that follow may be updated in the future. Therefore, there may be small differences in the steps.

Knowledge Base Search http://support.microsoft.com/?pr=kbinfo
  1. On the Select a Microsoft Product option, click All Microsoft Products from the list.
  2. Enter an appropriate combination of relevant Knowledge Base keywords and search criteria in the Search for... text box.

    For an example that demonstrates keyword and search criteria combinations, see the keyword examples that are listed at the end of this section.
  3. On the Using option, click All of the keywords entered option from the list.
  4. In the "Results Limit" section, select the number of the search results that you want returned from the options available.
  5. On the Search Type option, click Full Text.
  6. Click Anytime from the list of available Date Range options.
  7. Click GO to run your search.
