SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Message Queuing Triggers service, you may receive the following errors:
Event ID: 65509
CMSMQTriggerSet::ConnectToRegistry() has failed to connect to the registry on machine (xxxxxxxx). GetLastError() returned (0).
Event ID: 64636
Init() has caught a COM exception. The HRESULT was (FFFFFFFF). Description was (Unable to refresh the trigger set due to an unknown error.).
Event ID: 65535
The Trigger Monitor thread pool has completed initialization and there are no trigger monitor threads to service queue events. Unable to continue.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because Message Queuing Triggers service does not start correctly unless the Remote Registry service of Microsoft Windows 2000 is started.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. To resolve this issue, set the Windows 2000 Remote Registry service to Autostart mode. To add an entry for the Remote Registry service to the DependOnService value for the Message Queuing Triggers service, follow these steps:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate the DependOnService value under the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSMQTriggers\

  3. On the Edit menu, click Modify, press the RIGHT ARROW key, type RemoteRegistry, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Registry Editor.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
