Evntwin.exe Generates a "Can't Load Message File" Error Message (316564)

When you use the Windows 2000 Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Evntwin.exe (Event to Trap Translator) tool to select event IDs, you may receive the following error message:
Can't load message file: D:\Program CAUSE
This error message occurs with programs for which there is a space in the path.
RESOLUTION
You can work around this problem in Windows 2000 by using the command-line Evntcmd.exe tool.

Evntwin.exe (Event to Trap Translator) is a tool that is included with Windows 2000 Server. You must install SNMP on your server for Evntwin to be available. You can use Evntwin to send SNMP traps when selected event IDs occur in the event log. There is also a command-line version of the tool called Evntcmd.exe.
