"Error Loading Script" Error Message Appears When Downloading Critical Update (316508)

When you attempt to download an update from Windows Update, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Error Loading script c:\nologo failed.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if Windows Script is damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps to reinstall Windows Script 5.5:
- Browse to the following Microsoft Web site:
- Click Scr55en.exe at the bottom of the page. This version is for Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.
- Click Save this program to disk, and then click OK. In the Save in box, click Desktop, and then click Save to save the file to the desktop.
- On the desktop, double-click Scr55en.exe, and then follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Right-click Scr55en.exe on the desktop, and then click Delete.
- Restart the computer.
- Attempt to download the update again.
