BUG: Custom Find Extensions Are Missing on the Windows XP Start Menu (316307)

SYMPTOMS

The custom Find utilities are not displayed on the Windows XP Start menu as expected. In earlier versions of Windows, you can click Start and then point to Search to locate these Find utilities.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use the Classic Start menu in Windows XP to access the custom Find utilities by clicking Start and then pointing to Search.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To enable the Classic Start menu, right-click Start, click Properties to open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, and then click Classic Start menu.
