BUG: Exchange Explorer Does Not Display SharePoint Portal Server Properties (316230)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Exchange Explorer does not display properties of SharePoint Portal Server workspace folders and items.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because an Extensible Markup Language (XML) with a 0x-prefixed hexadecimal notation that prefaces MAPI property names is being returned by certain Web Distributed Authoring Version (WebDAV) requests. This results in a MSXML parser error in newer MSXML parsers (versions 4.0 and later). This MSXML parser error is trapped by the Exchange Explorer, but the Exchange Explorer cannot display properties because they are unavailable after a parse failure.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
