SUMMARY

This step-by-step article describes how to share a folder on a Windows 2000 Server-based computer as a NetWare volume. After you have shared the folder, users of NetWare-based client computers on the network can access the files and folders in the shared folder.

Note To complete this procedure you must use a computer with Windows 2000 Server and Microsoft File and Print Services for NetWare installed. Your computer must also meet the requirements that are listed on the Hardware Compatibility List.

Share a Windows 2000 Folder as a NetWare Volume

To share a Windows 2000 folder as a NetWare volume:
  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
  2. In the console tree, expand Shared Folders, and then click Shares.
  3. On the Action menu, click New File Share.
  4. In the Folder to share box, type the local path of the folder that you want to share as a NetWare volume.

    Note If you want to browse for the folder to share, click Browse, and then locate the folder you want to share.
  5. In the Share Name box, type the name you want to assign to the shared folder.
  6. Under Accessible from the following clients, click to select the Novell NetWare check box. If you do not want to share the folder with Windows client computers, click to clear the Microsoft Windows check box.
  7. If you have installed File Services for Macintosh on this server and you also want to share this folder with Macintosh client computers, click to select the Apple Macintosh check box, and then click Next.
  8. Click the permissions that you want to assign to this shared folder, and then click Finish.
  9. When you are prompted to do so, click Yes if you want to create an additional shared folder, or click No if you do not want to create an additional shared folder.
  10. Quit Computer Management.
