FIX: Insertion of NULL Values into NTEXT Columns May Cause Application Instability (315889)

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition (SQL Server CE) applications may encounter instability problems such as an Access Violation or the application may stop responding (hang) when it inserts null values into NTEXT columns.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, insert a non-null value into the NTEXT columns instead of a null value.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition Service Pack 1.
