SUMMARY

If you use a pre-configured .ini file, you can deploy Exchange 2000 server installations in unattended mode. However, the type of installation that you are performing limits support of unattended installations.

The pre-configured .ini file is created when you run the Exchange 2000 Setup.exe program with the /createunattend switch. The .ini file is used for future installations that use the Setup /unattendfile switch.

Although Microsoft supports limited editing of the .ini file once produced, such as changing the install directory, the .ini file cannot be modified to perform post-setup tasks, such as pre-setting the Exchange 2000 database and log file paths, before setup.
