Error Message When You Attempt to Bind to Site Server the Second Time (315781)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Content Management Server 2001
This article was previously published under Q315781 SYMPTOMS
After you bind to Site Server successfully (that is, you are able to view the containers in Site Server) in the Server Configuration Application (SCA), you may receive the following error message when you revisit SCA and attempt to bind to Site Server again:
Cannot bind to site server
CAUSE
The password that you used to bind to Site Server is replaced by a dummy password in all subsequent binding to Site Server. This helps to prevent other users that have access to the server computer from obtaining your Site Server user password.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not click Browse in Site Server. Instead, type the Site Server user password again before you attempt to bind to Site Server. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Server Configuration Application (SCA).
- On the Access tab, click Configure.
- Type the password under Login Type, and then select Site Server.
- Type the name of the Site Server to which you want to bind, and then click Browse.
