The Japanese-Language Version of SharePoint Portal Server Does Not Return the Expected Search Results from a Japanese-Language SharePoint Team Web Site (315693)

SYMPTOMS

With SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 1, you can create a content source for a SharePoint team Web site. However, you may not be able to search double-byte character set (DBCS) text files, even though the system locale is set to the appropriate language.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 2.
