This article was previously published under Q315532 SUMMARY
The NCompass Resolution 4.0 Site Management Guide and the Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 and 2002 Site Administrators Guide both include the following information:
Site Deployment Manager is for making incremental updates to a destination server for small sets of objects. To copy an entire site, use a database replication utility.
Database replication should not be used with Resolution 4.0 , MCMS 2001, or MCMS 2002.
MORE INFORMATION
SQL replication is not a supported method of data deployment with Resolution 4.0, MCMS 2001, or MCMS 2002.
To copy an entire MCMS 2001, MCMS 2002 or Resolution 4.0 site from one server to another, create a SQL backup file of the Resolution or MCMS database on the source SQL Server computer, and then restore the SQL backup file into the destination SQL Server computer. To make smaller updates to the destination server, use the Site Deployment Manager included with MCMS 2001, MCMS 2002 and Resolution 4.0.
