XL2002: Combo Box Control on a Worksheet Displays Its Original Value Instead of the New Value (315199)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2002

This article was previously published under Q315199

SYMPTOMS

A combo box control on a worksheet displays the original value, rather than the new value, after the control loses focus or after you refresh the display. For example, if a combo box is initialized with the value "January" and then you change the selection to "February", the value "January" appears in the combo box after you click out of the combo box control.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you open the workbook by using a hyperlink. It is caused by differences in the way that Excel opens a file from a hyperlink versus opening a file from a UNC path or a mapped drive.
