Problems Installing Windows XP on Your IBM ThinkPad Laptop Computer (315040)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run Windows XP Setup on your A20p IBM ThinkPad laptop computer, you may receive the following error message:
Setup has determined that the BIOS on your computer must be updated before you can install Windows XP.

Contact your computer manufacturer for more information. To quit Setup, press F3.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you are using an out-of-date BIOS with your A20p IBM ThinkPad laptop computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and install a BIOS version that is higher than version 1.04 for your A20p IBM ThinkPad laptop computer. For information about how to do so, please contact IBM, or view the documentation that is included with your computer.
