You Must Exclude Multiple DCAMs in a MOM Configuration Group (314770)

SUMMARY

If you have more than one Data Access Server/Consolidator-Agent Manager (DCAM) in your Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 configuration group, you must create specific exclusion rules for all of the other DCAM servers in the Managed Computer Rules (MCRs) for each Agent Manager.

MORE INFORMATION

MOM uses the same service name (OnePoint) and registry hive (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mission Critical Software) for agents and DCAMs. If you do not exclude other DCAMs from an Agent Manager's MCRs, you might accidentally include the other DCAMs in the Agent Manager's MCRs. This might cause Agent Manager to install the MOM agent over the DCAM, which replaces files and registry settings, and causes the DCAM to become nonfunctional.

If you do not exclude the other DCAMs and Agent Manager installs an agent over a DCAM, you must remove the affected DCAM and reinstall it to make the DCAM work properly again.
