XCON: An Unrecognized Character Set ID Is Encoded in the GeneralText Body Part (314703)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q314703

SYMPTOMS

If you add a special character to an e-mail message that was generated in All-in-1, that special character may be encoded in character set 77, which the message transfer agent (MTA) does not recognize and cannot convert. Because of this, a content conversion failure may occur when the MTA tries to convert the message to Microsoft Database Format (MDBEF). The non-delivery report (NDR) causes a conversion problem and is lost.
