Schools are not displayed on the map (314596)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a map in one of the products listed in the "Applies To" section, you may not be able to see any elementary schools or high schools on the map. Only some colleges and universities are visible.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the map is configured to not display schools.

Some components of colleges and universities may be grouped in the "Landmarks" category. If the map is configured to display landmarks, you can view these colleges and universities, or components of them, on the map.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, configure the map to display schools. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Streets & Trips or Microsoft MapPoint.
  2. On the View menu, click Show or Hide Places.
  3. Click the Places tab.
  4. Click to select the Schools check box, and then click OK.
All the schools are now visible on the map.

You can specify which categories of places that you want to display on the map, and you can hide the places that you do not want to display on the map. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Streets & Trips or MapPoint.
  2. On the View menu, click Show or Hide Places.
  3. Click the Restaurants tab, and then follow these steps:
    1. Click to select the check box next to each category of restaurant that you want to display.
    2. Click to clear the check box next to each category of restaurant that you do not want to display.
  4. Click the Places tab, and then follow these steps:
    1. Click to select the check box next to each place that you want to display.
    2. Click to clear the check box next to each place that you do not want to display.
  5. Click OK.
