Domain Policy to Stop the Use of ICS or ICF Stops Services (314592)

When a group policy prohibits the use of the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) or Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), these services cannot stay on.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not use a group policy that does not allow ICF or ICS.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows XP Service Pack 1.MORE INFORMATION
The ICF or ICS services must continue to run despite the group policy so that if the policy changes or the computer moves to a different part of the domain that allows the use of ICF or ICS, the service can dynamically receive the policy change.
