Templates with Double-Byte Character Set (DBCS) Characters in Template Name Are Unavailable in Web Author Tool (314523)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001

This article was previously published under Q314523

SYMPTOMS

When a user tries to use the Web Author tool to create a posting with a template, if the template name contains double-byte character set (DBCS) characters, the browser returns a "Page Not Found" error page after the user selects the template. The template is not available to users under the Web Author tool.

This frequently occurs on Japanese platforms, for example, because Japanese characters are double-byte characters.

CAUSE

Content Management Server checks for unsafe characters with template names. This problem occurs because Content Management Server uses "isalnum" (for single-byte characters) instead of "iswalnum" (for double-byte characters) to check for unsafe characters.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Content Management Server 2001. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
