OLMAC: Mac OS Stops Responding When You Open Messages (314272)

SYMPTOMS

When you open messages in Outlook 2001 for Mac, the Apple Macintosh Operating System (Mac OS) may stop responding (hang).

You cannot use a "Force Quit" by using the Command key+OPTION+ESC to resolve this problem. The only way out of this problem is to restart your computer.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if Outlook 2001 for Mac is running on Mac OS version 9.0.4 when you open a message that has the Voting buttons enabled.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
