SYMPTOMS

If an interface is turned off and then turned on again either by using the user interface or by the MediaSense feature, and if the network adapter is joined to multicast groups, the interface may not continue to receive multicast packets from those groups.

This problem occurs only if the multicast sockets are bound to INADDR_ANY. Multicast groups are rejoined correctly if the socket is bound to a specific interface.

CAUSE

When the interface is turned on again, a "join" message is not sent for each group of which the computer is a member.
