OL2002: Outlook 2002 Is Slow to Send Long Message Threads with Many Indentations (313908)

SYMPTOMS

Outlook 2002 may take more than 12 seconds to send an e-mail message that contains a very long e-mail thread with many indentations for each time that the message was replied to or forwarded. While the message is being processed, Microsoft Word uses nearly 100 percent of the CPU processing utilization.

CAUSE

This problem only occurs when the Word Mail feature is enabled.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Mail Format.
  2. Click to clear the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box.
