SYMPTOMS

When you use Site Deployment to export several channels that each contain a large number of postings (for example, 200 per channel), the process may fail and you may receive the following error message:
An Unexpected Error has occurred
The details of the error message are as follows:
Error: 6001
Description: The Request has timed out.
Severity: 5

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, divide the export package into several smaller packages.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, copy the database from the exporting server to the importing server. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Back up the database.
  2. Restore the database on another computer.
  3. Run the Database Configuration Application (DCA) to use the restored database.
