Registry information is not removed when you remove a program that was installed by using a Windows Installer package (313594)

This article was previously published under Q313594 SYMPTOMSWhen you use a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install a program, and you later remove the program, registry information about the program may not be deleted from the registry.
Note Windows Installer packages use the .msi file name extension.CAUSEThis problem occurs if you remove the program after another user logs in and uses the program. When another user logs in and uses the program, additional information is written to the user's profile in the registry. This information may not be deleted when the program is removed.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.MORE INFORMATIONThis problem has no adverse effect. You do not have to delete the additional registry information.
