MacOFFX: Program Quits After the Project Gallery Appears (313488)

SYMPTOMS

After the Project Gallery appears, you may receive the following error message:
The application Microsoft program name has unexpectedly quit.
The system and other applications have not been affected.
where program name is the name of the program that you were working in.

The Project Gallery can appear when you start the program, or you can select it from the File menu.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the following conditions are all true:
  • Your computer is running Mac OS X 10.1.
  • The Mac OS X 10.1.1 update is not installed.
  • Toast 5.1 Titanium for Mac OS X Preview #2 is installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, do one of the following:
  • Remove the ToastVideoCDSupport.component file.

    The ToastVideoCDSupport.component is installed in the Hard Drive:Library:QuickTime folder. If you place this file on the desktop, the next time that you start the Office program, you will not receive the error message.

    NOTE: Removing the ToastVideoCDSupport.component file may disable functionality in the Toast 5.1 Titanium for Mac OS X Preview #2 program.

  • Upgrade to Mac OS X 10.1.1.

    The Mac OS X 10.1.1 Update is available at the following Apple Web site:
