1 Introduction

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 Service Release 1 installs the Internet Explorer 5.0 SR-1 library. This library resolves the following known issues in Internet Explorer 5.0:
  • The Windows Media Player, Macromedia Flash, and Apple QuickTime plug-ins cause Internet Explorer to stop responding.
  • The use of Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac and Internet Explorer 5.0 at the same time causes Entourage to stop responding.

2 Installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 Service Release 1

Before installing this service release, you must first install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 Macintosh Edition on your computer. If you have not yet installed Internet Explorer 5.0, you can do so after first downloading it for free from the Microsoft MacTopia Web site at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/ie/ie50.asp.

To install the service release:
  1. Quit Internet Explorer.
  2. Double-click the IE 5.0 SR-1 Installer file, and then follow the instructions in the installer program to install the service release.
  3. Double-click the Internet Explorer program file to start Internet Explorer.
You do not need to restart your computer after installing the service release.
