SYMPTOMS

When you use the Italian grammar checker (Msgrit32.dll) to proof a document, Microsoft Word stops responding, and you may receive the following error message:
Winword caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the document contains a phrase in which an article and a noun are separated by a number and do not agree grammatically, such as "Le 60000 documento." (The correct phrase is "I 60000 documenti.")

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

Turn off the grammar checking option for gender and number agreement. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Spelling and Grammar tab, click Settings.
  3. Click to clear the Grammatica - Genere-Numero check box. Click OK twice.
Clearing the check box avoids the problem; however, the grammar checker will no longer indicate any gender and number agreement errors.

STATUS
