Problems When You Use a Server Publishing Rule that Uses a Protocol Definition (313350)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000
This article was previously published under Q313350 SYMPTOMS
When the following conditions exist, your Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server computer may log several errors in the event log:
- You have an Enterprise version of ISA Server that is installed in the Enterprise mode.
- You have a server publishing rule that uses a protocol definition that is defined by an application filter (such as FTP).
The following event may be logged:
Event: 14091
Source: Firewall service
Server publishing rule rule name failed. The protocol specified cannot be used for publishing. Location error information. The server publishing rule cannot be applied. The protocol must be inbound. Check with the application filter vendor.
CAUSE
When you are working in an enterprise scope, you can only use enterprise scope protocol definitions, and protocol definitions that are defined in the local array scope are not available. Server publishing reads the publishing rules, checks for each rule, whether or not its protocol is an application filter protocol. If it is not, it reads the protocol definition from the right place, according to the scope, but if it is an application filter protocol, it reads the rules from array scope, always, even if it is installed in enterprise mode. Because the information about the protocol is read from the wrong place, an error occurs and a new line is added to the event log.
