Job Credentials Such as Domain, User, and Password Are Truncated to One Less Than the Maximum Size (313337)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q313337

SYMPTOMS

When you are creating report jobs on an array, either directly from an array member or by using remote administration, you must specify the user credentials of a user that has administrative privilege on all of the array members. The permitted length of the fields for the various components are:
  • User name: 255 characters
  • Password: 255 characters
  • Domain Name: 15 characters
The interface for each of these fields permits you to input the correct maximum number of characters, but the last character may be lost when you save the information and you have used the maximum number.

For example, it may not be possible to specify a domain name that is 15-characters long, and then save that setting. If you save and then reopen the credentials dialog box, the last character of the domain name may be missing. This problem does not occur if the number of characters in any field is less than the maximum.
