Setup May Hang If You Remove TCP/IP When You Install Windows 2000 (313216)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP2
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP2
This article was previously published under Q313216 SYMPTOMS
If you choose to remove TCP/IP and install the NetBEUI protocol while you are installing Windows 2000, Setup may stop responding (hang).
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, use either of the following methods:
- Do not remove TCP/IP during the installation process. Instead, install both TCP/IP and NetBEUI, and then remove TCP/IP after Windows 2000 is installed.
- Unbind TCP/IP instead of removing it during the installation process. To do this, clear the TCP/IP check box for each applicable LAN and dial-up adapter that is identified during the installation process.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
