SYMPTOMS

Your computer may automatically reboot and you may see the following entry in the System event log after the computer reboots:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Save Dump
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1001
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000054 (0x003612ca, 0xf2688d00, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).

CAUSE

This issue can occur if Windows tries to open a handle to a drive but cannot open the handle because the following conditions exist:
  • The drive is not formatted.
  • A drive letter has been assigned to the drive.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use any of the following methods:
  • Remove the drive letter that is assigned to the partition.
  • Format the partition.
  • Remove the partition.
