SYMPTOMS

When you first connect your Pocket PC-based device to a Windows XP-based computer, you may receive a message that states that the driver software for the Pocket PC "has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP".

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the driver that is being installed is an unsigned driver that did not go through the Windows testing process.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, do not stop the installation, and click Continue Anyway.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Individual original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) must complete Windows Hardware Driver Qualification testing for all hardware that needs to be officially supported for use with Windows XP. Microsoft recommends that you update Windows XP often to assure that the latest signed drivers are updated in your computer. By doing so, the latest devices can be detected by Windows XP, and this simplifies the device installation process.
