SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Money when you try to view help you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:
Error Message 1:The XML page cannot be displayed. Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
Error Message 2: Unable to load the Help topic.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if some of the Microsoft Internet Explorer files or the HTML Help viewer files are out of date or are corrupted.

RESOLUTION

Note Microsoft Windows XP includes Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. Internet Explorer 6.0 is a core component in the Windows XP operating system.To repair Internet Explorer 6.0 in Windows XP, download Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1. If your computer is already running Service Pack 1, download the file again, and then reinstall the software to repair the original installation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, make sure that Money is configured to use your default browser. Then, use the Table of Contents feature in Money Help to locate and to view the Help topics that you want. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Money.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Settings, and then click the Browser Settings.

    In Microsoft Money 2003 and earlier, click Options, and then click the Connection tab.
  3. Under Browser, click Always use my default browser to browse the Internet, and then click OK.
  4. On the Help menu, click Microsoft Money Help.
  5. In the Money Help pane, click All Topics. A list of all Money Help topics appears.

    In Microsoft Money 2004 and earlier, click Contents.
  6. Click the subject area that you want--for example, click Accounts.

    A list of Help topics that is contained in that particular subject appears. A multiple-page icon next to an item indicates that the topic contains subtopics. Click the topic to list the subtopics. For example, click Working with accounts.
  7. Click the Help topic that you want--for example, click Transfer money between accounts.
