PPT2000: You Receive an Error Message When You Save a PowerPoint File to a Web Folder (312631)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q312631 SYMPTOMS If you try to save a PowerPoint file that is using a
certain template to a Web folder, you receive the following error message:
file name is currently in use.
PowerPoint can't modify it at this time. NOTE: This problem only occurs with PowerPoint 2000 Service Pack
(SP-2) and later. This problem does not occur with PowerPoint 2002.
CAUSE This problem occurs when you access or save files that are
larger than 20 kilobytes (KB) on a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or a File
Transfer Protocol (FTP) server because of the order in which PowerPoint
requests permissions and access to the file. This problem is more prevalent
when the specific templates are used because the file size increases to 20 KB
sooner. RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, obtain the latest
service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the
following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 276367 OFF2000: How to Obtain the Latest Office 2000 Service Pack The English version of this fix has the file

problem:

-or- - Save the PowerPoint file locally. Instead of saving the
file to the Web folder, save the file to your local hard disk, and then use
Microsoft Windows Explorer to copy the file from your computer to the Web
folder.
STATUSMicrosoft

at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in
