SYMPTOMS

When you try to connect any one of the Microsoft keyboards that are listed in the "Applies To" section to the computer, the keyboard's adapter does not fit into the keyboard port of the computer. As a result, you cannot connect the keyboard to the computer.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the computer has only an AT port to which to connect the keyboard.

To use any one of the Microsoft keyboards that are listed in the "Applies To" section, the computer must have a PS/2 port (or an available Universal Serial Bus (USB) port if you are using the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro, Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite, or Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro keyboards).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, obtain a PS/2-to-AT adapter, connect the keyboard's PS/2 adapter to the PS/2-to-AT adapter, and then connect the PS/2-to-AT adapter to the AT port on the computer.

To order the PS/2-to-AT 5-pin DIN adapter (Part #: 286-00177), contact the Microsoft Order Desk at the following number: (800) 360-7561.
