Error Message When You Restart Your Computer After You Install PC-Magic Encrypted Magic Folders (312582)

SYMPTOMS

When you restart your computer after you install new software or drivers, you may receive one of the following error messages on a blue screen

STOP: 0x23 (0x000e0100, 0xf466a978, 0xf466a678, 0xf87c7625)

STOP: 0x24 (0x000e0100, 0xf466a978, 0xf466a678, 0xf87c7625)

NOTE: The preceding parameters may vary according to the configuration of your computer.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the PC-Magic Encrypted Magic Folders program is installed on your computer. PC-Magic Encrypted Magic Folders includes a device driver (Mfx.sys) that does not check for a rare condition when a buffer it was examining was not locked down.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact PC-Magic to inquire about the availability of an updated version of the Mfx.sys file that you can use to fix this issue. For more information about how to resolve this issue, please view the following PC-Magic Web site:

To work around this issue, use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to uninstall the PC-Magic Encrypted Magic Folders program. To do so if you are unable to start your computer normally, press F8 during startup, and then start your computer in Safe mode.
