SYMPTOMS

For security reasons, you may want to reduce the amount of cached logon information that a computer stores. If you do this by using the information in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article, cached logon information may no longer work:

172931 Cached Logon Information

CAUSE

When you reduce the number of cache entries, the existing entries are written with an incorrect size for the cache entry.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
