Non-Internet shortcut files that are located in a user's Favorites folder may be deleted.
CAUSE
The Windows 2000 Internet Explorer\Favorites and Links group policy that is used to deploy administrative Internet shortcuts to clients deletes non-Internet files if it is assigned to users.
Microsoft Internet Explorer stores Internet shortcut files as .url files. Shortcuts to documents or other files are stored as .lnk files. If the Internet Explorer\Favorites and Links group policy is applied, it deletes all files that are not .url files in the Favorites folder.
