MORE INFORMATION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

If the steps in the Resolution do not resolve the behavior, there might be a damaged entry in the registry. Delete the entry that affects the font size, and then reinstall Outlook Express to regenerate the entry. Follow these steps:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate the IEFontSize value under the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{Identity Number}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0\Trident\International\1252\

  3. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
  4. Locate the IEFontSize value under the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International\Scripts\3\

  5. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
  6. Quit Registry Editor.
  7. Restart the computer, make sure that no other programs are running, and then reinstall Outlook Express. To make sure that no other programs are running when you perform the installation, including any antivirus programs, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE immediately after you restart, and then examine the program list. Only Explorer (that is, Windows Explorer) and Systray ought to appear in the list.

  8. Start Outlook Express, and test to see whether the font size is what you expect. If the font size is still too small, repeat the first set of steps in the Resolution section of this article.
