SUMMARY

If you have multiple Global Address Lists, only one Global Address List is displayed in the Outlook Address Book on a client computer. This address list is named "Global Address List" even if you gave this address list a different name when you created it in Exchange 2000. This article describes the criteria that Outlook uses to determine the Global Address List that is displayed in the Address Book.

MORE INFORMATION

Outlook displays that Global Address List that meets the following criteria:
  • The user has permissions to access this Global Address List.
  • The user is a member of this Global Address List.
  • This Global Address List is the largest of all of the other Global Address Lists.
If you create more than one Global Address List and you want a user to use a specific Global Address List, make sure that the user is a member of the list, and that the user has permissions to access only this list. You can create custom Global Address Lists and add members to these Global Address Lists.
