MacXLX: Excel Sets the Default Header or Footer Font to Zero Size (312260)

When you click Custom Header or Custom Footer on the Header/Footer tab of the Page Setup dialog box, and then click the Font button, Excel sets the default font to Lucida Grande and the default size to 0 (zero).
If you then try to change the font without first selecting a font size, you receive the following warning message:
Font size must be between 1 and 409.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the active field in the Header or Footer dialog box is empty when you click the Font button. (The active field is denoted by an outline and contains a blinking insertion point.)
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, type some text in the header or footer and select it before you click the Font button. If you do this, Excel sets the default font to Verdana and the default size to 10.

You cannot set a font size to zero. If you attempt to do this in the Font dialog box, you receive the error message in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
