The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word X for Mac

This article was previously published under Q312203

SYMPTOMS

When you open certain dialog boxes while a Word X document is open, you may experience one or more of the following problems:
  • A dialog box is hidden by the main document.
  • A dialog box does not seem to open, because it actually opens behind another dialog box that is being displayed.
  • Toolbars may not be accessible, even when you click in the document window, because there is an open dialog box behind the document.
  • An insertion point that is different from what you expect is displayed.
  • You cannot get a visual reference to the insertion point in a document.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Minimize the active document.
  2. Close any dialog boxes that may be open.
  3. Maximize the active document from the Dock.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
