This article was previously published under Q312201 SYMPTOMS
When you open the Customize dialog box on the Tools menu in Microsoft Word X for Mac, you discover that the keyboard is not available for navigation or option-selection purposes. If a mouse or other pointing device is not connected to your computer, you cannot close the Customize dialog box.
NOTE: In earlier versions of Word for Mac, it is possible to navigate in the Customize dialog box with keyboard commands.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use a mouse or other pointing device to navigate in the Customize dialog box.
If a pointing device is not connected to your computer and you have already opened the Customize dialog box, you may need to use the Force Quit command to quit Word X altogether. To do this, press the COMMAND+CONTROL+ESC keys (at the same time), and then press RETURN when the Force Quit Applications dialog box appears.
NOTE: When you use the Force Quit command to quit a program, you may lose any unsaved data.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
