Envelopes Are Printed in the Opposite Direction or Upside Down in Word for Mac (312196)

SYMPTOMS

When you print an envelope in Microsoft Word for Mac, the envelope may be printed in the opposite direction from what you expect, or it may be printed upside down.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur on some printers, including the Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 1600CM.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

NOTE: The steps in the following methods may vary, depending on the model of printer that you are using.

Method 1: Insert the Envelope in the Opposite Direction

Insert the envelope into the printer in the opposite direction, or insert the envelope upside down (depending on the symptoms that you are experiencing).

Method 2: Change the Printer Settings

  1. On the Tools menu, click Envelopes.
  2. Under Printing Options, click Custom.
  3. Under Feed Method, click to clear the Clockwise rotation check box, or select a feed method that is opposite to the method that is currently selected.
