How to remove Office v. X for Mac and Office 2004 for Mac Standard Edition from your computer (312172)

The Remove Office tool is available on the Microsoft Office v. X Installation CD-ROM, in the Remove Office folder, which is located in the Value Pack folder. You can run the Remove Office tool directly from the Office v. X CD-ROM, or you can copy the tool to your computer's hard disk and then run it.

Note When you install Office 2004, the Remove Office program is installed by default to the hard drive. It is located in the following folder:

Using the Remove Office Tool

Warning The Remove Office tool can remove files that are installed by Microsoft Office 98, Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac, and Office v. X, including Microsoft shared libraries, such as Microsoft OLE, which might be required by other programs. If a program does not start after you use the Remove Office tool, try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.

Note When you install Office 2004 for Mac Standard Edition, the Remove Office program is installed by default to the hard disk drive. The Remove Office program is installed in the following folder in Office 2004 for Mac Standard Edition: After you open the Remove Office tool, follow the instructions that appear on screen to select the items that you want to remove. After the Remove Office tool finishes running, click Empty Trash on the Finder menu to complete the removal process.

Note If you start the Remove Office tool and then quit it before any files are removed, you receive the following message: Nothing was removed.
Remove Office did not delete any files.

Removing Office v. X Manually

To manually remove Office v. X from your computer, locate and move to the Trash all the files in the following list. Note that <username> is used as the name of the local user's Home folder.
